Edit request: return to stable and consensual lead (2)

[edit]

There was a consensual lead that had been stable for years that has been butchered out without discussion and in a clearly non consensual way in the past two weeks. So my suggestion is to simply restore the “new”, unilateral lead to the previous, consensual one:

“Hebron (/ˈhiːbrən, ˈhɛbrən/; Arabic: الخليل al-Khalīl, pronunciationⓘ or خَلِيل الرَّحْمَن Khalīl al-Raḥmān; Hebrew: חֶבְרוֹן Ḥevrōn, pronunciationⓘ) is a Palestinian city in the southern West Bank, 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Jerusalem. Nestled in the Judaean Mountains, it lies 930 metres (3,050 ft) above sea level. The second-largest city in the West Bank (after East Jerusalem), and the third-largest in the Palestinian territories (after East Jerusalem and Gaza), Hebron includes the Cave of the Patriarchs, which Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions all designate as the burial site of three key patriarchal/matriarchal couples. The city is often considered one of the four holy cities in Judaism as well as in Islam.” 2A02:14F:1EF:4E74:F92A:EC94:17B1:92F2 (talk) 17:02, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. This edit requires consensus (of EC editors). I will leave this unarchived for now so that they may comment if desired. Selfstudier (talk) 17:11, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To editor Selfstudier: IP is correct that Kharbaan Ghaltaan's massive changes should be reviewed. I just deleted the whopper about it being near the Green Line, which is all I have time for at the moment. Zerotalk 03:14, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kharbaan Ghaltaan: Can you please comment about this. I recall that we had similar issues at the State of Palestine article. Perhaps you could cease making large scale changes while we resolve this. Thank you. Selfstudier (talk) 08:22, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I for one found them too rapid and massive to handle. I don't like the <ref =O> format for one. The Harvard style method, which simply cites the listed source and always provides pagination, is scientific, whereas the other form leaves verification hanging in the air. The Harvard system was for long the default reference form. I was tempted to revert the lot, but didn't because some edits were clearly improvements.Nishidani (talk) 09:20, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
what large scale changes. If you think its not ok, then feel free to improve it. But don't revised whole at a time. Kharbaan Ghaltaan (talk) 13:19, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you saying you feel entitled to make large scale changes but other editors shouldn't?Nishidani (talk) 13:31, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We can't have serious errors, bad English and so on. Other editors shouldn't have to improve such, that's a nono. Selfstudier (talk) 13:44, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please delink [[Hebron Center|Hebron Mall]] in the infobox image caption, as it links to an irrelevant page about Hebron, Connecticut. Thank you. 104.246.217.171 (talk) 00:07, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Simple typo fix: change "alone" to "along"

CURRENT: the economy of Hebron was more diverse, including agriculture and livestock herding, alone with glassware manufacturing and processing of hides.

PROPOSED: the economy of Hebron was more diverse, including agriculture and livestock herding, along with glassware manufacturing and processing of hides. Octophant (talk) 23:51, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done, thanks for making us aware of that, Huldra (talk) 23:55, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Iberian convivencia

[edit]

“which ended centuries of the Iberian convivencia (coexistence)”

Don't you mean The Muslim invasion of Spain ;)

Edit Suggestion: Hebron land area description should be "following" the 2 larger cities.

[edit]

The term "followed by" is a grammatical error. Hebron follows the two larger cities mentioned in size. "It is the third largest city in the country, followed by Gaza and Jerusalem" should read "It is the third largest city in the country, following Jerusalem and Gaza."
